Detailed vulnerability description

The vulnerability allows a remote user to execute arbitrary commands on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient input validation when handling the "unarchive_cmd" parameter for the "/splunkd/__upload/indexing/preview" REST endpoint. A remote privileged user with "edit_cmd" capability can pass specially crafted data to the application and execute arbitrary commands.
