#VU125581 Improper access control in lxd - CVE-2024-6219
Published: December 2, 2024 / Updated: April 9, 2026
lxd
Linux Containers
Description
The vulnerability allows a remote user to escalate privileges.
The vulnerability exists due to improper access control in the LXD certificate authorization logic when processing restricted CA-signed client certificates in PKI mode. A remote user can present a restricted certificate to gain full access to LXD and escalate privileges.
The issue occurs when a server.ca file is present in LXD_DIR and restrictions on certificates in the trust store are ignored.
