Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local high-privileged attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to improper privileges and access controls. A local administrative attacker with super_admin privileges and with a connected USB drive can link the aforementioned binary to a command that is allowed to be run by the fnsysctl CLI command and execute an arbitrary binary contained on an USB drive plugged to a FortiGate.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
