Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to disclose sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to observable timing discrepancies in password comparison in Wagtail privacy controls for password-protected pages and documents when handling shared-password access checks. A remote attacker can measure response times with high accuracy to disclose sensitive information.

Exploitation is understood to be feasible on a local network, but not on the public internet. Privacy restrictions based on individual users or groups are unaffected.
