Detailed vulnerability description

The vulnerability allows a remote user to execute arbitrary system commands with higher privileges.

The vulnerability exists due to execution with unnecessary privileges in BIG-IP scripted monitor when handling requests to the affected iControl REST endpoint or processing the affected tmsh command. A remote privileged user can invoke the vulnerable functionality to execute arbitrary system commands with higher privileges.

In appliance mode deployments, successful exploitation can cross a security boundary. There is no data plane exposure; this is a control plane issue only.
