Detailed vulnerability description

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to uncontrolled resource consumption in the Helm chart archive parser when processing a crafted Helm chart archive. A local user can place a specially crafted .tgz file in a scanned path to cause a denial of service.

Exploitation requires that the crafted archive be placed in a location that Trivy scans as a Helm chart.
