NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-64028

Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of truncation-induced null return values in hist_field_name() in kernel/trace/trace_events_hist.c when processing a fully qualified histogram variable reference with an overly long variable name. A local user can supply a crafted trigger string to cause a denial of service.
The issue occurs because callers dereference the returned value without expecting NULL.
