Race condition in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-64213
Published: July 27, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in the lm90_alert handler when handling concurrent smbus alert events and sysfs write operations. A local user can trigger concurrent alert and sysfs write activity to cause a denial of service.
The issue can unintentionally re-enable the hardware alert line while the alarm remains active, resulting in an interrupt storm.
