Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local attacker to execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free in the gigabyte_waterforce driver probe path when handling device initialization failure after device I/O has been started. A local attacker can trigger the race condition during probe failure to execute arbitrary code.

The issue is caused by a race condition between hid_input_report() and execution immediately following hid_device_io_start() in the probe function.
