Use-after-free in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-68383
Published: August 12, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free in the xe GuC scheduler timeline name handling when destroying an exec queue while scheduler fences still reference the timeline name. A local user can trigger exec queue destruction while outstanding scheduler fences still reference the freed name to cause a denial of service.
The issue arises because the scheduler keeps a pointer to the timeline name after the exec queue lifetime ends, creating an RCU-lifetime mismatch.
