Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-68314
Published: August 12, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to improper resource shutdown in mctp_i3c_mod_init() in the mctp i3c driver when registering the i3c notifier and initializing existing buses before driver registration completes. A local user can trigger a driver registration failure to cause a denial of service.
The issue leaves a notifier pointing to a module that failed to load and leaks allocated bus objects.
