Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerability exists due to command injection in Visual Studio Code when opening an attacker-supplied link or web page. A remote attacker can craft a malicious link or web page and use social engineering to convince a user to open it in Visual Studio Code to execute arbitrary code.

User interaction is required to open the attacker-supplied link or web page, and successful exploitation occurs in the user's connected development environment.
