Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local privileged user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to a null pointer dereference in the idpf driver core initialization and removal handling when allocation errors occur during initialization followed by reset or module removal. A local privileged user can trigger failed initialization and then reset or remove the module to cause a denial of service.

The issue occurs because max_vports is set before the related vports, netdevs, and vport_config buffers are successfully allocated.
