Improper control of a resource through its lifetime in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-68237
Published: August 12, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to improper state handling in amdgpu_userq_pre_reset in the amdgpu user queue fence handling when processing a GPU reset. A local user can trigger a reset while a queue fence remains pending in a non-mapped state to cause a denial of service.
The issue can leave eviction, suspend, or process teardown waiting indefinitely on a fence that never signals, which can wedge the machine.
