Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to a reference count leak in the ovpn TCP error-handling paths when processing TCP RX or TX errors while deferred peer deletion work is already pending. A local user can trigger concurrent error paths to leak peer references and cause a denial of service.

The issue is caused by a race condition between the RX and TX error paths and results in peer objects not being freed.
