CWE-ID: CWE-125
Exploitation vector: Remote access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in set_ntacl_dacl() in ksmbd when processing crafted ACE data in NT ACLs. A remote user can supply an undersized ACE with a SID sub-authority count that exceeds the declared ACE size to cause a denial of service.

The out-of-bounds access occurs later during the POSIX ACL deduplication walk after the malformed ACE has been copied.
