Heap-based buffer overflow in libvips - CVE-2026-70654
Published: August 15, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to heap-based buffer overflow in the VipsForeignLoadPpm operation when processing untrusted, uncompressed PPM images from a custom source. A local user can supply a specially crafted PPM image to cause a denial of service.
Only applications that define their own custom libvips sources and use them to process untrusted, uncompressed PPM images are vulnerable.
