Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service and disclose sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to integer overflow leading to a heap-based buffer overflow in libvips TIFF image processing when parsing a crafted many-band TIFF image. A local user can supply a specially crafted TIFF image to cause a denial of service and disclose sensitive information.

Memory may be accessed at attacker-controlled negative offsets within mmap-resident regions, and user interaction is not required.
