Type Confusion in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-74412
Published: August 15, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to improper type handling in rtw88 PCI AER handlers when handling PCI error recovery events. A local user can trigger a PCI error condition to cause a denial of service.
The issue arises because driver data stored as an ieee80211_hw pointer is retrieved as a net_device pointer, leading to reads and writes at incorrect structure offsets.
