NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-74379
Published: August 15, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a null pointer dereference in dev_dax_kmem_remove() when removing dax kmem ranges after partial success during probing. A local user can trigger removal of a device with ranges whose resources were never added to cause a denial of service.
The issue occurs when dev_dax_kmem_probe() partially succeeds and later probe failures leave some range resources unset while removal still iterates over all ranges.
