CVE-ID: CVE-2026-74365
CWE-ID: CWE-362
Exploitation vector: Local access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause silent data corruption.

The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in BTT lane acquisition in the Linux kernel nvdimm BTT subsystem when handling BTT I/O. A local user can trigger concurrent use of the same lane to cause silent data corruption.

The issue occurs because BTT lanes became preemptible while the recursion model still relied on a per-CPU recursion count, allowing another task on the same CPU to bypass locking and use the same lane concurrently.

Ubuntu
