Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to improper locking in EXT4_IOC_MOVE_EXT when processing a donor file descriptor that refers to a file on a different filesystem. A local user can supply a donor file from a different superblock to cause a denial of service.

Exploitation requires a concurrent filesystem freeze operation to trigger the deadlock cycle.
