CWE-ID: CWE-20
Exploitation vector: Local access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation in the octep_vdpa_intr_handler interrupt handler when handling device interrupts with non-contiguous IRQ numbers. A local user can trigger the vulnerable interrupt handling path to cause a denial of service.

The issue occurs because the handler assumes irq - irqs[0] yields the correct ring index, which can fail when the first IRQ is not the base of a contiguous range.
