Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to disclose sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in hci_read_codec_capabilities() when parsing a malformed controller response containing truncated codec capability elements. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted controller response to disclose sensitive information.

The issue occurs because the parser validates only the payload length and can record a two-byte capability after receiving only one payload byte.
