Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in sof_ipc4_control_update in sound/soc/sof/ipc4-control.c when handling malformed module notifications. A local user can send a specially crafted notification payload with an invalid size to cause a denial of service.
