Time-of-check Time-of-use (TOCTOU) Race Condition in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-72301
Published: August 16, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a time-of-check time-of-use flaw in sof_ipc3_bytes_put() when copying user-supplied control data. A local user can provide crafted control data with a different size than the previously stored buffer contents to cause a denial of service.
The copied length is derived from the old buffered size rather than the incoming size field.
