Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to improper state management in KVM SEV/SNP intra-host migration and mirroring logic when migrating or mirroring SEV-SNP virtual machines. A local user can initiate migration or mirroring of a crafted SEV-SNP VM to cause a denial of service.

The issue affects SEV-SNP guests because required SNP-specific state and VMSA features are not fully transferred or initialized during intra-host migration or mirroring.
