Improper control of a resource through its lifetime in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-74558
Published: August 16, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to improper resource management in the AF_XDP zero-copy transmit batch parser when processing invalid or oversized transmit descriptors. A local user can submit specially crafted transmit descriptors to cause a denial of service.
The issue affects packet handling in the zero-copy batch path and can leave UMEM frames unreclaimable until the affected transmit processing state is resolved.
