Out-of-bounds read in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-72107
Published: August 16, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in dm-era writeset handling when processing I/O for tables with a non-zero start sector. A local user can trigger out-of-bounds memory access to cause a denial of service.
The issue occurs because an absolute mapped-device block number is used instead of a target-relative block number during writeset lookup.

linux-gcp-7.0 (Ubuntu package)
linux-azure-7.0 (Ubuntu package)
