Improper control of a resource through its lifetime in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-72058
Published: August 16, 2026
Vulnerability details

The vulnerability exists due to improper resource management in ixp4xx_hss_probe() when allocating and registering HDLC netdev objects. A local user can trigger device initialization and removal to cause a denial of service.
The issue stems from allocating two different netdev objects and later unregistering and freeing a different object than the one that was registered.
