NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-72008
Published: August 16, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local attacker to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of null pointer dereference conditions in the MediaTek power domain driver when probing or cleaning up HW_VOTER type power domains. A local attacker can trigger a failed probe or removal path to cause a denial of service.
The issue occurs because the driver used DIRECT_CTL domain status and power-off logic for HW_VOTER domains in certain probe and cleanup paths.
