CWE-ID: CWE-787
Exploitation vector: Local access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows an attacker with physical access to corrupt memory.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds write in the ms_block Memory Stick block translation layer when processing a Memory Stick card that reports an excessive number of blocks. An attacker with physical access can provide a crafted card with a block count above the supported maximum to corrupt memory.

The issue occurs because the card-supplied block count can cause indexing past the end of the fixed free_block_count array.
