Race condition in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-74729
Published: August 24, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to disclose sensitive information or cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in snoop_file_read and the aspeed lpc snoop channel kfifo when reading snoop data concurrently with IRQ-driven fifo updates. A local user can read from the snoop device while concurrent interrupt activity updates the fifo to disclose sensitive information or cause a denial of service.
The issue occurs on SMP systems due to unsynchronized producer and consumer access to the same ring buffer.
