Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to improper resource management in vhost_iotlb_add_range_ctx() and related vhost IOTLB allocation paths when handling userspace- or guest-controlled IOTLB mapping requests. A local user can send crafted mapping updates that keep allocating IOTLB entries beyond the configured limit to cause a denial of service.

Non-retiring tables could continue allocating entries after reaching their configured limit, and full-range mappings are split into two IOTLB entries.
