CWE-ID: CWE-664
Exploitation vector: Remote access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to overwrite memory in later caller iovecs beyond the returned length.

The vulnerability exists due to an improper iterator state restoration in tls_decrypt_sw() and the TLS 1.3 zero-copy retry path when processing a TLS 1.3 control record after optimistic zero-copy decryption. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted TLS record to overwrite memory in later caller iovecs beyond the returned length.

Exploitation requires the receiver to have TLS_RX_EXPECT_NO_PAD enabled.
