Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to disclose sensitive information, modify data, or cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free in the fbdev mode handling logic when processing FBIOPUT_VSCREENINFO requests with FB_ACTIVATE_INV_MODE. A local user can delete a videomode that is still referenced by fb_info->mode to disclose sensitive information, modify data, or cause a denial of service.

The stale pointer may later be dereferenced during sysfs mode reads through show_mode().
