Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds mapping condition in the drm shmem helper huge page fault handler when installing PMD huge page mappings. A local user can trigger a huge page fault with an address range that exceeds the boundaries of the VMA to execute arbitrary code.

The issue can lead to a VM_BUG_ON_VMA() condition if the resulting mapping reaches copy_pmd_range().
