Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in the hynitron_cstxxx touchscreen driver when parsing touch controller reports. A local user can provide crafted touch data with an invalid touch count or finger ID to cause a denial of service.

The issue can corrupt the touch state of a previously active slot, and on the V821 Avaota F1 board a finger ID of 1 is already invalid because the driver is configured with a single touch slot.
