Out-of-bounds read in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-80561
Published: August 27, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to disclose sensitive information and cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to out-of-bounds read in decode_locker() in net/ceph/cls_lock_client.c when decoding locker data from an OSD response. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted OSD response to disclose sensitive information and cause a denial of service.
Exploitation requires a malicious or compromised OSD to interact with a kernel client issuing the lock.get_info class method, such as during RBD exclusive lock acquisition.
