Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in tas2562_volume_control_put() when processing userspace volume control values. A local user can supply a specially crafted control value to execute arbitrary code.

The out-of-bounds array access uses a user-controlled index derived from the volume value and may result in an unintended value being written to the device.
