Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to improper resource management in iomap_split_ioend in fs/iomap/ioend.c when splitting bios that already come from iomap_ioend_bioset. A local user can trigger bio splitting in this context to cause a denial of service.

The issue can deadlock when the bioset is exhausted.
