Published: August 28, 2026

Vulnerability identifier: #VU146111
CSH Severity: Medium
CVSS v4: 7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:N/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
CVE-ID: CVE-2026-80693
CWE-ID: CWE-787
Exploitation vector: Remote access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available

Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote user to cause a denial of service or corrupt kernel memory.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds write in idpf_get_reg_intr_vecs() when processing a VIRTCHNL2_OP_ALLOC_VECTORS reply. A remote user can return a crafted reply whose per-chunk num_vectors sum exceeds num_allocated_vectors to cause a denial of service or corrupt kernel memory.

Exploitation requires control of the control plane, such as a PF or hypervisor device model, that provides the vector allocation reply.
