Double free in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-80618
Published: August 28, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a double free in amdgpu_amdkfd_gpuvm_free_memory_of_gpu() when freeing DOORBELL or MMIO remap buffer objects that remain mapped to GPU memory. A local user can trigger memory free operations on such buffer objects to cause a denial of service.
The issue occurs because the buffer object may be unpinned before the function determines it cannot yet be freed and returns -EBUSY, leaving it to be unpinned again later during process teardown.
