Out-of-bounds read in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-80604
Published: August 28, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local attacker to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in hid_get_report in drivers/hid/hid-core.c when processing a numbered report with a zero-length data buffer. A local attacker can trigger hid_report_raw_event() with size 0 to cause a denial of service.
The issue occurs because the report ID is read from data[0] before validating that the buffer contains at least one byte.
