Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to trigger a kernel warning.

The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of unsupported socket families in sk_mc_loop() when sending packets through an AF_PACKET socket over a virtual device. A local user can send packets through a raw or packet socket to trigger a kernel warning.

The issue affects non-INET sockets, including AF_PACKET sockets used with virtual devices such as VRF or ipvlan.
