Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to trigger kernel warnings.

The vulnerability exists due to improper initialization of the polling timer in x86 machine-check exception handling when CMCI storm detection runs during machine check initialization. A local user can trigger CMCI storm detection before the polling timer is initialized to trigger kernel warnings.
