Out-of-bounds read in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-80869
Published: September 5, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to access memory out of bounds.
The vulnerability exists due to improper bounds checking in the ntfs_read_inode_mount() attribute-list walk when mounting a crafted NTFS filesystem. A local user can provide an attribute-list entry with a length too short for subsequently accessed fields to access memory out of bounds.
The condition occurs when the on-disk attribute-list size is a multiple of the sector size.
