Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to improper locking in amdgpu_devcoredump_format() when dumping instruction buffer contents from a hung GPU job. A local user can trigger devcoredump processing for a hung GPU job whose instruction-buffer buffer object shares its dma_resv with the VM root page directory to cause a denial of service.
