Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause loss of inode updates.

The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of inode dirty state in ext2_setsize() and ext2_xattr_set2() when updating file sizes or extended attributes of IS_SYNC inodes. A local user can update the file size or extended attributes of an IS_SYNC inode to cause loss of inode updates.
