Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform unintended state-changing HTTP requests.

The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of inherited object prototype properties in Axios default-instance request dispatch when processing requests that omit an explicit method. A remote attacker can exploit a separate prototype-pollution vulnerability to set Object.prototype.method and alter the HTTP method used for the request.

Only default-instance axios.request({ url }) and axios({ url }) calls without an own method are affected by the confirmed method path.
